2018 Wall of Fame Inductees -- Mrs. Shirley Merrill and Mr. Robert Bowling

Robertmerrill

In 1993 Pendleton County Schools inducted our first Wall of Fame candidates.  Since that time it has become part of the graduation ceremony to introduce the new recipients each year.  The criteria for this award is to have been a graduate of one of the Pendleton County High Schools and have gone above and beyond in their career to show service to their community or fellow man.  This year the selection committee chose two recipients who they felt were both very deserving of this honor.

School Will Be Closed on Monday, April 2

The Pendleton County School District, in collaboration with the Pendleton County Education Association and the Pendleton County Board of Education, has decided to close schools on Monday, April 2, 2018.  Our response comes after yesterday’s press conference with the Kentucky Education Association request for statewide rally for public education and school funding. This will allow not just public school employees, but also the public and their families travel to Frankfort to advocate for Funding for Public Education.

Although, closing school is the last thing anyone wants to do, one of the reasons for this decision to close school is because educators feel one of their main responsibilities is to advocate for the children of the Commonwealth.  We have attempted every other means of communication, action, and advocacy.  The budget proposed by our Governor results in a 1.9 million dollar loss to our school district.  We need to make sure the Legislature internalizes the importance of putting our kids and families first, as well as those across the Commonwealth.  We encourage all of our families and community to travel with us in solidarity.  We must educate our lawmakers on the need to find new streams of revenue to fully fund our vital Public Services, including Public Education.

Wall of Fame Nominations Being Accepted

The Pendleton County Board of Education started, in 1993, recognizing outstanding graduates of Pendleton County Schools who have made outstanding contributions and/or achievements in their life.  This program was named “Wall of Fame” and each year recognizes a past Pendleton County Alumni who has made “unique and special contributions to society through their work or other notable activities.”  Each year the award recipient(s) are recognized during commencement exercises at Pendleton High School and their picture/bio portrait is displayed on the walls of the high school.  To be eligible for 2018  consideration, nominations must be received no later than March 30, 2018.

Click here to go to Wall of Fame page.

Employees of the Year Nominations Now Being Accepted

We can all think of someone while we were in school that made a difference to us.  Most of us might remember a particular teacher or instructional assistant that helped us learn.  To some it might have been the lunch lady that gave an extra scoop of cheesy macaroni, or that bus driver that waited the extra second as we were running out the door late, or the custodian that helped us unlock a jammed locker.  Maybe some remember a principal or district administrator that encouraged us on a test or at an event.  Regardless of who it was, we want to honor them for what they have done for our children and our schools.

Alice in Wonderland

Pendleton County High School Drama is presenting one public performance of their traveling interactive children’s production of Alice in Wonderland on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at 7:00 in the Pendleton County High School Cafeteria. Ticket prices are $3.00 for anyone over 12 and anyone 12 and under are free although donations will be accepted. Since this is a children’s production, the high school students are taking this show for free to Northern Elementary, Southern Elementary, Sharp Middle School, and will perform for the Children’s Hour at the Pendleton County Library. They will be speaking with students at each production on what is involved in creating a show from costumes, scenery, props, make-up, accents, and illustrating differences between a traveling show and a traditional stage production. The younger students will hear about turning a book into a stage production and how they are similar and different. The drama students would love for you to come and see this story of Alice as she travels through her wonderland.
