Each year in the United States, individuals and groups press for certain books to be removed from classrooms, school libraries, and public library shelves. While most of these people feel they are working for the good of the people, quite often they are overstepping the right that every person has--the right to decide for himself (or his children) what he reads. Banned Books Week works to bring attention to the fact that our country is founded upon the freedom to express ideas and to share those ideas with those who wish to know them, and the belief that others do not have the right to curb that expression or the access of others to those materials.
Celebrate Banned Books Week! Stand up for your right to read, and read a BANNED BOOK!
