Sharp Middle School Library is a popular place!  Every day, we check out books to students who want to read the latest, greatest titles. We are working to get more books that students love all the time.  We hope we can continue to add to our book collection over the coming years so that it can be even more popular and serve our students even better than we do now.

Each year, we promote the Kentucky Bluegrass books. (See the list under the "Kentucky Bluegrass Awards.")  In 2014-2015, we hope to begin The Battle of the Books, a competition that will be based on the Kentucky Bluegrass list.  Details for that will be found on the Battle of the Books link.

Stay tuned for other information because we are trying to add more activities and programs all the time. We welcome any suggestions for books, for programs, and for other events that will serve our students and our community.

Library Policy Manual and Mature Material Permission Form
    • Newsletters
What's happening in the library, and how can you get involved? These and a few other questions can be answered in the newsletter. Take a peek here!
    • Mature Material Young Adult Permission Form
At times, middle school students will request materials that are geared more toward the high school level. When they do, we ask that parents sign a permission form so that we have record that parents are aware of the issues their children may encounter as they read.
    • Library Policy Manual
The library policy manual governs acquisitions, programs, and material challenges for the library and, when necessary, the school. The library does not discriminate based on tastes, beliefs, or preferences, but it does retain the right to act as the parent in situations where the maturity level of the material does not match the maturity level of the reader. Students who request materials of a more mature level than is dictated by the recommendations of reviewers and staff will have to have a signed permission form stating parental permission to access that material before access will be allowed.
