*We are currently working on addition/subtraction to 100. Your child should be able to choose an appropriate strategy to solve an addition/subtraction problem. Some strategies include using the hundred chart, number line, vertical addition/subtraction, base ten blocks, and drawing a picture. Please encourage your child to find a strategy that he/she is comfortable with and stick to it.
*We are also working on seeing patterns in numbers. Your child should be able to find the number that completes the sequence: 20, 21, 22, ____, _____. He/she should be able to understand a hundred chart and be able to utlize it to find missing numbers.
*Your child needs to know what each digit in a two digit number represents ( 49= 4 tens and 9 ones)
*Your child should be able to read a level 12 reader at this time of the year to be considered on level.
*While you are reading with your child each night, please remember to ask them questions about the story such as: Who are the characters? What is the problem? How did they fix the problem? When and where did the story take place?
*Have your child retell the story to you. Pay attention to the senquence of the events (first, next , last).
