Important research information--KYVL, Big6, Citation

In order to use KYVL, you must have a password!  See Mrs. Reid or your English teacher for details.

Big6 is a research tool that students can use to help guide any research they do, whether it be formal or informal.  Using the step-by-step approach of Big6 helps
students systematically question, research, and synthesize; in other words, it helps them cut the research elephant into bite-sized pieces.

Citation Sources
Proper citation of sources is an important skill.  Plagiarism is stealing.  Citation of sources is the ethical, honest approach to using others' work.  These sources will help you cite sources appropriately.  Be sure to know what citation style your teacher requires before starting!  For more help, see me, Mrs. Reid, in the library.

ALSO, Microsoft Word 2007 and up has a citation source of its own under the References tab.

OWL gives examples of nearly every type of citation style used by high schools and universities.  It demonstrates in-work citation and works cited pages, as well as punctuation requirements and other requirements for each style.  This is a writing workshop in itself.  This source is invaluable for all who do research of all types, especially for grades 7 and up.

EasyBib is a resource that helps you develop a Works Cited page for your research work.  It is a free resource.

Citation Machine
Citation Machine is another resource for Works Cited.  It is a free resource.
