Welcome to seventh grade social studies!!!
Hello! My name is Cathy Mann and this is my thirtheenth year as a social studies teacher at Phillip A. Sharp Middle School. I am married to Scott Mann who is a Federal Air Traffic Controller as well as a varsity football coach at Grant County High School. We have two wonderful children, a twenty-two year old son, Eric, who is in his final year of study in chemical engineering at the University of Louisville, and an eighteen year old daughter, Sarah, who is a freshman studying Infomatics and Criminal Justice at Northern Kentucky University.
I am originally from a suburb west of Atlanta, Georgia. I graduated with a Bachelor's of Science in Teaching Secondary Social Sciences from Auburn University. I also graduated from Georgetown College with a Master's in Arts in Teaching Gifted Education.
I'm a huge college football team. My favorite team is the University of Alabama, but I'm also a bit of a Louisville fan as well. Outside of football season, I love to swim and I enjoy exercising, particularly yoga and pilates.
I truly love to study and teach history, especially Ancient World History. Students in my seventh grade classes can expect to learn about the great ancient civilizations like Egypt and China, the classical civilizations of Greece and Rome, as well as Medieval Europe. I hope to teach, to inspire and to help my students grow throughout their middle school experience.
