Pendleton County Schools Will be Closed Due to Illness March 23 and 24

Due to illness of students and staff, Pendleton County Schools will be closed March 23 and 24. Spring Break starts March 27-March 31. Students return April 3rd.

Recognize Outstanding Teachers in Science & Math! Presidential Award for Math & Science Teaching

The Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST) is the highest honor bestowed by the United States government specifically for K-12 mathematics and science (including computer science – mathematics, science or STEM) teaching. Anyone – principals, teachers, parents, students, or members of the general public – may nominate exceptional mathematics or science teachers who are currently teaching grades 7–12 for the 2016-2017 award year. Teachers may also apply directly at The Nomination Deadline is April 1, 2017 and the Application Deadline is May 1, 2017, for secondary school teachers (grades 7–12). Elementary school teachers (grades K–6) will be eligible to apply during a future cycle.

SMS Student Participates in Science & Engineering Fair at NKU G. L Science Fair

Sharp Middle School is excited to celebrate 6th grader, Gabriel Laffitte, and his recent participation in the 22nd Science & Engineering Fair of Northern Kentucky (SEFNK) held on Saturday, February 25th, 2017, at Northern Kentucky University.  SEFNK is a regional fair affiliated with the Intel International Science & Engineering Fair (ISEF), the world’s largest international pre-college science competition. On the morning of the February 25th, 140 students groups ranging from grades 4-12, from 43 schools across the northern Kentucky region came to NKU to compete for numerous awards sponsored by SEFNK, NASA, Intel and more.

MSU Craft Academy Visit Days MSU Craft Academy

Morehead State University's Craft Academy has scheduled two new Visit Days during the spring semester: April 29, July 29. Craft Academy Visit Days are for students, sophomore level and below, who are interested in Craft to visit Morehead State University’s beautiful campus, see a Craft Academy presentation, meet Craft staff and current Craft students, take a tour of campus and Grote-Thompson Hall (where Craft students live) and end the visit with a Star Theater show at the Space Science Center! 2016-17 Transportation Weather Plan weather plan

The district's "Weather Plan" may be put into effect when the majority of the county roads are open and a few of the more isolated roads are still deemed unsafe for bus travel. Dr. Strong Named Finalist for the 2017 Supt of the Year Award Anthony

Congratulations to Pendleton County School's Superintendent, Dr. Anthony Strong,  for being named as one of the top 4 finalists for the 2017 Supt of the Year Award by the Kentucky Association of School Administrators this past week.    

Pendleton County Schools Maintains Proficient Ranking Proficient District

In a video statement to staff on October 1, 2015, Superintendent Strong said, “During the past four years we have been focusing on what is needed to move our students forward.  Today I am happy to share that your hard work and dedication has paid off.  We are a Proficient District.”  On September 29, 2016, Superintendent Strong congratulated the district for its designation as a Proficient District for the second consecutive year.

Eight recent retirees were recognized during the Great News portion of the August Board Meeting on Thursday, August 18.   These employees had a combined total of 185.25 years of service to Pendleton County Schools.

Wall of Fame Nominations Being Accepted Wall of Fame

The Pendleton County Board of Education started, in 1993, recognizing outstanding graduates of Pendleton County Schools who have made outstanding contributions and/or achievements in their life.  This program was named “Wall of Fame” and each year recognizes a past Pendleton County Alumni who has made “unique and special contributions to society through their work or other notable activities.”  Each year the award recipient(s) are recognized during commencement exercises at Pendleton High School and their picture/bio portrait is displayed on the walls of the high school.  To be eligible for 2017  consideration, nominations must be received no later than March 31, 2017.

2016-17 Opening Day Appreciation Celebration Breakfast

Opening Day Appreciation Celebration was held Thursday, August 4.   This was the 9th year for the celebration, which  brings our school personnel and our businesses, organizations, and churches together to support each other in our shared mission: to create a brighter future for our children and thus our community.  Following a delicious breakfast prepared by the food service managers, Superintendent Anthony Strong addressed the group and employees were recognized for years-of-service and model classrooms.
