Progressive Ag Farm Safety Day In Pendleton County

On Friday, April 11, the South Family Resource Youth Service Center hosted the second annual Pendleton County Progressive Agriculture Safety Day at the fairgrounds for Northern & Southern Elementary Schools' 3rd grade students.  The Department of Agriculture, Kentucky State Police, Emergency Management, UK Extension Services, Pendleton High School FFA Chapter, Field & Wildlife, Duke Energy, Falmouth Fire Department, and the Sheriff's Department teamed together to teach the students about farm safety.  Click "Read More" to view pictures.. 


SES holds NEHS Induction

Southern Elementary held its National Elementary Honor Society Induction Ceremony Wednesday, April 9, 2014.  Thirteen SES 4th grade students were inducted into the Society.


PHS Presents "The Sound of Music"

Pendleton County High School will be presenting "The Sound of Music" on May 8th, 9th and 10th. All performances will begin at 7:00 p.m. In the high school auditorium.  Admission $8 for adults, $5 for students.

Friday, May 30 – Class Night 7:00 pm in the PHS Gymnasium

Sunday, June 1 – Baccalaureate 7:00 pm in the PHS Auditorium

Tuesday, June 3 – Graduation 7:00 pm in the PHS Gymnasium

Tuesday, June 3 - Last Day for all students


A "Weather-Days Update from the Superintendent

Late Monday afternoon, the Senate unanimously passed bill language to address the impact of this winter's weather on school calendars, focusing on a minimum number of instructional hours, rather than a minimum number of instructional days.

HB 211 goes to the House for consideration of concurrence, as the bill began in that chamber.


Technology Opportunity for all PCS Staff

Mark your calendars!  Join the Technology Department for “hAPPy hour” on April 15th and 30th in the Training Room at Sharp Middle School.  Enjoy a snack while you learn about great “APPetizers” for the iPad and the Surface RT.  Bring an “APPetizer” to share that you are currently using in your classroom to improve/enhance instruction.  There are so many wonderful apps available on the web today!  We want to whet your APPetite and show you some great resources for teachers and students!  Each “hAPPy hour” will have new and different resources for all ages and areas so you are welcome to come to both!  

 


Information About Revised 2013-14 School Calendar

Due to the large number of school closings, the 2013-14 school calendar has been revised.  Click here to view a letter from Superintendent Anthony Strong explaining the changes to the calendar.

School in Session February 17, March 31, April 1, and April 2.

School will NOT be in session Election Day, May 20, and Memorial Day, May 26.

BOARD APPROVES 2014 MEETING DATES

The Pendleton County Board of Education approved the 2014 Board Meeting Dates/Location/Times at the January 21, 2014 board meeting.  For a complete list of 2014 meetings, you may go to the Board of Education page or click here.


2013-14 Transportation Weather Plan

The district's "Weather Plan" may be put into effect when the majority of the county roads are open and a few of the more isolated roads are still deemed unsafe for bus travel. This Weather Plan will be announced via media, school messenger, & webpage.  A list of the affected roads may be accessed under "Links" on the Transportation page.  Click here to go to the Transportation page to access the Weather Plan that was revised on December 11, 2013.
