Dear Students, Parents, Staff, and Community Members:

Welcome to another great school year in Pendleton County Schools.  I know that 2013-14 was a long year due to weather, and it caused us to have a short summer.  Regardless of the length of summer, we are ready to go in making 2014-15 the best school year for our students.  Our teachers are ready, the buildings are shining and the buses are cleaned, fueled and ready to roll.

During my remarks to staff on opening day I asked staff to reflect upon this question.  “What are we about?”  Our mission statement ends by saying that we are preparing students for the 21st century.  Believe me that there is no greater responsibility involved in education than preparing students to be College and Career ready for the 21st century.  Our staff is committed to working each day in order to prepare our children.  Albert Einstein stated, “Insanity is doing the same thing, over and over again, but expecting different results.”  In order to prepare our students we have gone through many changes over the past few years.  We cannot expect what worked 25 years ago to work today.

So “What are we about as a district?”

G oing above and beyond for our students.

            R emarkable staff and students

            E xceptional accomplishments

            A wesome facilities and resources

            T eam that is family

All of this makes us “What we are,  G-R-E-A-T.

Thank you for entrusting us with your children.  I know 2014-15 will be a great year.

Sincerely,

R. Anthony Strong
Superintendent
