2018-19 begins my 26th year at Southern Elementary. It is my second year as a 2nd grade teacher! I have taught in the intermediate grades 19 years (one is 4th and eighteen in 5th), five in Title I Math, and this year. There have been many changes over the years that have kept me learning new approaches and varying my ways of teaching. I have always enjoyed interacting with the students. I especially enjoy math and writing.
N.E.H.S. is a club that I sponsor for intermediate students. Based on academics and service, students are invited to join the club to help provide services to aid others in our community. Some of the activities we are involved with are: Pennies for Patients, resthome visits, Community Clean-up, Can-Dog-Food Drive, and other conservation activities. In the past we have also helped out in the 9-11 parade, provided goods for tornado victims, and comforted students who have lost a loved one.
In 2000 I was married to my husband, Mike. We live on Hwy 177 with our two girls, Maria and Mallory. I enjoy watching them grow up and becoming involved in extracurricular activities. They are growing up quickly and changing their interests. Mallory is in high school, and Maria attends NKU.
I like to play volleyball and play for Grassy Creek Christian Church. I enjoy walking, nature, and especially the beach. We have taken many summer vacations to the beach and enjoy collecting shells and sharks' teeth.
