I started teaching in Pendleton County in 1990. I taught at Northern Elementary for 4 years before going to the Middle School for several years. During that time, I taught Math, Science and Social Studies. I was also awarded a math grant from the Natiional Science Foundation to work with teachers in the state of KY to develop a hands-on approach to math. During this 3 year grant, I was able to learn cutting edge initiatives from the top math experts all over the world. I was able to also enjoy a sabbatical where I worked with teachers all over the state of KY, along with teaching graduate courses at NKU.
This led me to working full time at NKU for 2 years, where I taught Math for pre-service teachers and computer apps classes. Also during this time, I was hired by the US Dept of Education for Project 2061. At the Dept of Ed, I was on a remarkable team where we created and reviewed content for mathematics for the US. It was an exciting and fulfilling experience. Although I thoroughly enjoyed NKU and traveling monthly to DC, I missed my Pendleton county family!
I rejoined my Pendleton family in 1999 as the TRT and then CIO of Pendleton County Schools. We have a fabulous district of staff and students! I have enjoyed helping our schools implement technology tools and resources into the curriculum as we go from Good to GREAT!! It is truly about every student, every day!!
